Councils and Honor Societies

Main Content

The SIU fraternity and sorority community is currently home to 33 national fraternities and sororities.

Each of our organizations holds membership in one of four governing councils: College Panhellenic Association (CPA), Interfraternity Council (IFC), Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), and National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC). Each fraternity & sorority sends a delegate to their respective governing council general meetings which occur once or twice per month depending on the governing council.

Our community also maintains an Inter-Greek Council (IGC) which has two distinctive branches: the Executive Board and the Programming Board. The IGC Executive Board (IGEB) consists of five elected positions and the four governing council presidents and meets twice per month with FSL staff to strategically move our community forward. Once per month, the IGEB hosts an IGC Townhall Meeting open to all constituents within the fraternity and sorority community to discuss issues relevant to the strategic focus of the IGEB. The Inter-Greek Council Programming Board (IGPB) is led by the two Associate Directors from the IGEB and 12 appointed Program Coordinators that focus on educational programming and community building events for our community. The IGPB meets twice per month to coordinate programming efforts.

The fraternity and sorority community maintains 4 honor societies specifically for fraternity and sorority members. Theses are Fraternal Values Society, Gamma Sigma Alpha, Order of Omega, and Rho Lambda.
