The Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) is the governing council for 9 organizations that have a current/historical focus as cultural-based organizations. Currently, the MGC at SIU has active, undergraduate chapters/colonies for 7 fraternities and sororities and 2 formal interest groups.
The 9 organizations that hold membership in the Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) participate in a joining process called Membership Intake. With intake, there is no centralized process like with formal recruitment and organizations coordinate their own events and schedules. Times and requirements vary from organization to organization. For more information on intake, please complete an Fraternity & Sorority interest Form or contact the organizations directly.
- On Wednesday, August 26, 2015, the Inter-Greek Council (IGC), in partnership with the CPH, IFC, NPHC and MGC, will be hosting a Sorority Fair from 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm and a Fraternity Forum from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm in the Auditorium & International Lounge in the Student Center. Representatives from all governing councils will hold informational session to go over important information about how to join. Following the information session, representatives from our 33 fraternities and sororities will staff browsing tables for interested individuals to meet the individual organizations and find out more about their joining process.
- MGC, in partnership with NPHC, IFC, and IGPB, co-hosts a Cultural Greek Showcase each fall to allow interested individuals to learn about the cultural-based fraternities and sororities at SIU and their individual processes for joining. Our next Cultural Greek Showcase will be held on Monday, August 31, 2015 at 8:00 pm in Ballroom D in the Student Center.
